The Gujarat High Court granted 10-day interim bail to Jayesh Madanlal Jinger alias Babbar on Tuesday. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by the special court previously this year in the Gulberg Society massacre case.

The court has granted him assistance on health grounds. Jinger is said to be suffering from tuberculosis. He is being treated at civil hospital in Ahmedabad. However, the court has rejected appeals of four other convicts.

On Monday, HC rejected the appeal of former VHP leader Atul Vaidya, who wanted to extend this interim bail on the ground of his wife’s treatment.

The Gujarat Government had opposed the request, saying that out of 99 days since he was convicted, Vaidya was out on temporary bail for 59 days
