President Mukherjee to begin three-day visit of Gujarat and Diu from Friday
President of India Pranab Mukherjee will be on three days, two nights Gujarat visit during 30-31 October and 1st November. President Mukherjee will inaugurate the 75-day-long ‘Diu Festival’ scheduled to commence at the Union Territory of Diu from December 1, officials relies said.
He will arrive by special plane in Ahmedabad on 30th October and leave for Delhi from Diu airport on 2nd December.
President Mukherjee will attend the functions at Gujarat Vidyapith and Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. He will inaugurate a new plant of Amul Dairy at Kapadvanj. As per protocol, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will join the President in these function.
The President will take night halt at Rajbhavan in Gandhinagar on 30th December.
He will visit Somnath Mandir on 1st December and also visit Dwarkadhish Mandir in Dwarka. He will take night halt in Diu and inaugurate Tourism Festival next morning before leaving for Delhi.
President Pranab Mukherjee has given his consent to inaugurate the Diu Festival, named as ‘Festa Di Diu’, to be celebrated at Diu for 75 days.
The Administrator of Union Territory of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli Ashish Kundra said, The President will inaugurate the festival on December 1.
Ashish Kundra added, this festival will have several attractions, including beach tents, bungee jumping, adventure sport, hot-air balloons, etc. “During this two-and-a-half month long festival, tourists can also enjoy cultural nights to be held every week.
