Railways Started Recruiting For 90 Thousand Posts, Do They Thinks It’s Too Early?
The government, which is facing criticism on the employment front, has decided to fill approximately 90 thousand posts in the Railways. It is being called the world’s largest recruitment campaign. According to The Times of India, the railway has started the process of filling 89,500 posts. These include posts such as loco pilot and assistant loco pilot to technicians, gangmen, switchman, trackman, cabinman etc.
This recruitment drive of Railways is being considered as part of the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal’s plan to strengthen the security of the railway. According to the report, about 1.2 lakh posts related to security in the Railways are vacant. An official said that 40 to 45 thousand employees retire annually from the railway, In such a situation, no one can compromise with the safety of the railway. This recruitment will result in an additional burden of Rs 4000 crore on the Railways. The staff expenses of the Railways were Rs 69,713.22 crore in 2016-17, which was Rs 72,705.57 crore in 2017-18. However, this new recruitment campaign of Railways has also faced controversy over the minimum qualifications and age limit.
