Kevin Pietersen quits Surrey for Caribbean Premier League
Maverick batsman Kevin Pietersen has opted not to play in Surrey’s next championship fixture against Leicestershire and will be heading to the Caribbean Premier League to play a T20 Blast game against Sussex at Arundel a week later.
This was Pietersen’s last first-class match and it might possibly be the last of his career.
Pietersen will start his second spell with St Lucia Zouks on 21 June and will sit down with Surrey for talks in late July, the Guardian has reported.
Surrey’s director of cricket, Alec Stewart said that they would be having more discussions with Pietersen once he comes back.
He said he was surprised he played in this game because they had spoken about what his England opportunities were, adding that it was not the end.
