England 144/5 from 44 overs:

WICKET! Jadeja has broken the Stokes-Bairstow partnership as he dismisses the left-hander. Stokes made a move out of the creases, failed to connect bat with the ball and Parthiv stumped him.

England 138/4 from 41 overs:

Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are doing what they have done all through the year for England in Tests. The two are once again involved in a solid partnership and look to rebuild England innings after the visitors lost four wickets in the first session.

England 53/3 from 16 overs:

WICKET! R Ashwin had made up for that dropped catch of Alastair Cook. First ball of his first over, Cook goes on to the back foot as he sees a short delivery. Edges it and Parthiv makes no mistake behind the wickets. Ashwin celebrates, a relived man he is for sure. England, meanwhile, is losing their way.

England 51/2 from 15 overs:

WICKET! Jayant Yadav has given India a big breakthrough. First ball after drinks break and Joe Root tries to pull. The ball stays a little low and misses Root’s bat to hit him on the pads.
And he is out LBW. Plumb. No review taken.

England 36/1 from 11 overs:

DROPPED! Cook is riding his luck as Indian fielders continue to drop his catches. First, Jadeja dropped him in the slips and now Ashwin has spilled a straight forward catch at the mid-wicket. Mohammed Shami has every right to be livid. Poor stuff in the field by India.

Virat Kohli points to the area where the Umesh Yadav delivery took off to end Haseeb Hameed’s innings.

England 32/1 from 10 overs:

WICKET! Steep bounce on day one of the Test has done Haseeb Hameed in. Umesh Yadav and the entire Indian team look on at the pitch in surprise as the England batsman walks off.

Virat Kohli did not look pleased as Ravindra Jadeja dropped Alastair Cook in the third over of the match.

England 12/0 from 3 overs

DROPPED! Ravindra Jadeja has failed to cash in on an easy chance in the slip. A repeat of Southampton 2014. Shami drew Cook forward as the England skipper edged it towards Jadeja. The ball went through Jadeja’s hands. Poor stuff in the slip cordon.

Mohali: England have won the toss and elected to bat in the third Test against India at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Saturday.

India, who crushed England in the Vizag Test to take 1-0 lead in the series, will once again bank on their spinners while England will expect more from their batsmen. While Cook, Hameed, Root, Stokes and Bairstow had their moments in the second Test, if England to win, they must click as a unit.

While ball tampering allegations against Kohli has generated a lot buzz following the second Test, Indian skipper would like the team not to think much about it and focus on keeping England under pressure.
